The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is responsible for realization of I-II cycle (BSc and MSc resp.) Molecular Biology studies at Vilnius University.

The duration of studies is 1.5 year which is equivalent to 90 ECTS credits. Graduates acquire a master’s degree in Molecular Biology.

The Master degree programme in Molecular Biology is devoted to prepare specialists in molecular biology, whose professional qualification would be able to cope with the present and future requirements for biosciences and biotechnologies. The orientation of the Programme is mostly academic, oriented towards scientific research activities, however, including applied research.
The aims of the Molecular Biology Master Programme are:
Molecular Cell Biology, Microorganism Genetics, Cell Technologies and others.
Students’ research practice and Master’s thesis may be completed in one of the following: laboratories at Faculty of Natural Sciences (VU), Institute of Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Oncology (VU), Nature Research Center’s Botany and Ecology institutes, State Research Institute Center for Innovative Medicine, “Thermo Fisher Scientific” Vilnius branch and others.
